RJ’s is not bad, but it may be in danger of not running next year. I believe part of it is runs through the Simcoe County Forest and might get closed down. However, hoping that never happens, RJ is a good place to start, especially after some rain. It’s very sandy and recent rain (the day or two before) makes for wonderful conditions. If it’s dry, it can be very dusty though.

CMA will begin listing results once the have committed dates from at least 4 race organizers. This usually happens sometime in April.

Typically the H-S schedule comes out in bits and pieces starting early in the new year. Locations change somewhat year to year but I'd say go to the first event. This typically draws the most riders so you'll get a good feel for the level of competition and also get to meet lots of other like-minded riders.

If...and I highly doubt it...but if Mansfield is back on the schedule it is (IMO) by far the best location and used to be the first event of the year in May.

The Port Colborne location (first round in 2005) doesn't have all that much in the way of great terrain to work with but the club does a great job with what they have. There is certainly enough mix of trail/grass track to give you a feel for things.

If its been dry, Barrie can be a real dust bowl, but there are loads of good trail there too.

Heck...it's all good, I'm sure which ever event you pick you'll have a good time.

I though RJ's was totally on private property?

Mansfield will not be happening again.

    Question

I'm gonna try and get out and ride a CMA H/S. Since I'm a vet I need to put Red numbers on the bike. I want to be able to remove the numbers for when I trailride. Can I get away with using red tape for numbers? My number is 910. I've used black electical tape in the OCMC H/S to make temporary numbers that I just peel off. Any suggestions? I don't want to buy number plates !

Don't sweat it...they'll issue you a stick on number at sign up if you don't have one on your bike already.

Failing that, your idea of using red electrical tape will probably work fine as well.

I've never ridden Mansfield so I can't comment on it, but so far my favorite HS is St. Thomas (as long as it is fairly dry). Barrie would be my next choice.

I'd have to say that my favorite in Ontario is Sky Top!

    Then second is Moorefield.

Give Skytop a try on May 7th....it is a JFF OCMC event to get your feet wet for HS. This will test your mentor before the CMA HS events.
RJ's OCMC CMA HS is all private property.
