Here is the Super Saturday route briefing and GPS information in the attached file.

The ride is a GPS "track" and not a route, it is in Garmin format. You just follow the coloured line on your GPS. Because it is a track, there will not be any routing information such as distance to go or upcoming turns...I tried planning it as a route, but Base camp software was giving me too much grief with unwanted/undesirable routings.

The loop is 190 km in length. During the pre-ride it took us almost 4 hours to complete.

This ride is for riders of all skill levels on any Dual Sport bike. Knobbies recommended, but not necessary, unless it rains of course. All off road/trail sections are on legal trails: please stay on GPS tracks. Some sections of Turkey Point and St-Williams forest are closed to dirt bikes. You will be legal on the GPS tracks. There is no single track on this ride; forests sections are all on double/ATV trails. Pay attention to your GPS on some of the forests sections: some of the trails criss-cross each other. If you wish to bypass a forest section, just navigate yourself (via road)to the point where the trail exits the woods back on the road.

If you get tired, wet or cold, you can easily cut out portions of the route by navigating yourself back to the Walsingham Community Centre, by using the provided waypoint.

There are 4 gas stations marked as waypoints in the area. Only the Pine Grove station is right on the route, the other 3 will require a short detour.

Those with kids who want to ride, can do in St-Williams forest on green plated and insured bikes. Steve or Rick will direct you to the forest parking lot.

Members can load from the attached file. Non-members will have to tag along with a member who has the GPS track. Gorick should be available to lead a group. The community centre will be open from about 0900 am. We are aiming to get riders out at 1000 am, so everyone can ride and get back to Walsingham in good time to enjoy Steve's cooking :-& : Chili & borscht.

    Door prizes,

I would like to thank Rick (gorick) for laying out a great route for us; his local knowledge was of great help to lay out this ride.

I also want to recognize our two Super Saturday sponsors: Richardson GMP (SteveP) who rented the hall and are providing lunch and A Vicious Cycle who donated more than $300 in door prizes!

I will not be present at the ride as I have prior commitments for the entire week end. I wish everyone a good ride, enjoy the meal & the hospitality and welcome to our new prospect members #-o

    Michel

P.S: The attached GPS file has been edited at 1130 am Thursday Sept 25th. Please load the new file. :?

Please be advised the original track I published had too many track points (more than 500) for most GPS to handle. This results in the GPS unit "truncating" the loop, thus leaving out a significant portion of the ride. I have just finished editing the track so that it fits less the less than 500 track point criteria.

For those who downloaded the track before 1130 am Sept 25th: please download the revised loop.

Thank you to our friend DualSport for pointing out this faux pas #-o . Sorry for the confusion,

    Michel

Here is the St-Williams Super Saturday 2014 Route.. Have a great ride y'all.. Cheers..

There are three routes.. You first ride route 001 to 069 (GAS).. Then route 069 to 158.. Then route 158 to END.. :D

    001 to 069 = 65.5 kms / 69 wpts
    069 to 158 = 48.2 kms / 90 wpts
    158 to END = 76.1 kms / 80 wpts
There is a fourth route.. Whole ride in one route.. No need to change from route one to route two to route three.. :eat

    START to END = 190 kms / 237 wpts

I could,t make the ride last Saturday but I am really curious as to the route taken, because I grew up in the area. Anyways what is the secret to opening the garmin route file. Is there an apple app that needs to be downloaded first?

You will need the Garmin software called "Base Camp". It is available for free on the Garmin web site. Good luck,

Actually there is an iOS app for the iPhone called BaseCamp Mobile. It's intended to interface with the Garmin Fitness hardware but it may open GPX files, but probably not GDB (Garmin's proprietary file format). Should be easy to get the GPX version or use an online conversion site, like GPS Visulizer

    Check this link: http://www.garmin.com/en-CA/shop/downloads/basecamp
