PS - sorry for the thread drift, but I think it was already going off track.

We have been getting a lot of back seat moderators lately. Unless something truly offensive is posted and should be taken down immediately, it's ok to let moderators moderate the forum...

I sincerely apologize to the original poster for adding comments not related to his thread. I appreciate very much that we have shops who are willing to sponsor our site and I enjoy looking at the items they and everyone else post up for sale. When I am in the mood to buy, this is where I look first.

Again I ask, is it really necessary to require a price? Shouldn't it be up to the seller to decide how they want to market whatever they are selling (within the other rules of the forum, of course)? Most of the back seat moderating has been over this rule.

The names of the moderators used to be listed on the index page. That appears to be gone now?

Maybe the classifieds should be locked so no replies are allowed as some other forums do?

The above is only for the purposes of suggesting some ideas to consider. I enjoy the ODSC forum as it is and will continue to support it, regardless of the decision.

I would rather classified threads not be locked.

If valid questions are asked (by our peers/fellow bikers) and answered, can help all parties.

From posting price standpoint - If you are posting personally and not a site sponsor - price should be included (IMO).

If your a paying sponsor - anything goes/msrp/better than msrp/etc. We need to give these groups some air time to help sell the products that support this site/Odsc/off road.

    This is forum.

If you want to sell something that no one can comment/ask publicly - stick to kijiji or auto trader ads.

    Well said.

Classifieds that do not allow posts are a waste of time, IMO, and you eventually see people circumventing the rule like they do on Cafe Husky.

I also support that an asking price needs to be included with the posting of an item/bike for sale simply from the point of view of time wasting. Even as a seller I want readers to be informed of my expectations so dreamers aren't wasting time, and likewise when I am looking I don't want to waste a sellers time if their item/bike is out of my budget.

I don't support locking the threads, as buyers often have valid questions which can benefit anyone else looking at the thread. We have a great community here, it's nice to see discussion on these types of topics.

I also would prefer to see an asking price required on all items listed for sale in this forum. Dealers can post the suggested retail if they prefer not to post their special prices publicly. I see no reason to lock the threads. If something gets out of hand the moderators can intervene. In other words, status quo works for me

Correct. The moderators are the "Executive Team". We have 9 execs and all have moderator capability. I made the decision to switch to "exec only" moderating because it was too much work keeping track of moderators. This decision was agreed to by the other execs. The problem was that we wanted moderators to be current club members, but as people come and go (or delay renewing), it was extra work keeping track of moderator status.

If a forum user sees something objectionable, they should PM or email one of the execs. I consider the forum to be operating satisfactorily because I rarely receive that type of PM or email.

    Hey Neil,

You kinda sound like a lonely Maytag Repairman.

If you are looking for some action in the moderation department, I would be more than happy to stop taking my meds and reactivate the mutiple personality of your choice....it's been a while and I think Th0r Hu$@B3Rg needs to be set free on a weekend pass...or maybe a conjugal visit....

    Longing for you tragically,

    Your Buddy Paul

I will look forward to that.
It's been boring since the other forum guys took their bat and ball and went home.

Thor will have to stay away because things get out of hand too quickly when he's around.

I think everyone needs to go for a ride.

Perhaps Thor should have a forum set up just for him - could be for members. Although, word on the street is that The lady of the house- 'Kate the Great', has thoroughly domesticated him after much struggle.......

We do need prices posted, but dealers can post MSRP and negotiate directly with the customer. The 's' in msrp is what should help bring people in the door.

Rather than clog threads up with comments, moderators should be notified to address any issues.
