The designer has been paid for his work and the two images posted by BJ are the final ones we will use. The white background version will likely be the forum logo one.

The black one in sticker form would match my plastics nicely. Good job :D

I think the name needs to be changed to the 'Canada Dual-Sport Club', as any references to Onatrio are missing in the logo.

Having lived in other parts of the country, this is why people hate Ontario. The belief that Ontario=Canada makes the rest of the country nuts! Believe it or not, there is far more to Canada than just one province. I think the ODSC logo should reflect the club's Ontario heritage - it's just too easy to wrap yourself in the maple leaf.

But it sounds like a done deal.

I would also much prefer an Ontario reference, How about the old trillium (not the new liberal trillium).

People had the option to vote on a trillium based design and it didn't get enough votes.

I hardly think one little club logo is why other provinces hate Ontario, or adds to it. (take a look at our current logo btw) People make their own choices as to how they react to things.
Besides, much of our site traffic is from outside the province & there has been a reasonable amount of discussion about things outside the province over the years. That being said, we could change our name and it has been discussed before, but it costs a bunch of cash and time to do so.
Also, in most cases the logo will be used in conjunction with our full name, so I don't believe it should be much of an issue.

Also, there was ample opportunity for input during the notification and voting process(about 1 month). Shouldn't these complaints have been raised then?

That was the ugly Liberal Trillium rotated at the wrong angle. That particular logo had other issues as well as I recall.
What are the objectives in this exercise & what info was given to the designers? Why the change from the existing logo? What is wrong with the existing logo?
We club members would debate this all winter given the chance, and the process we are now following is clearly intended to keep that from happening and to get a design approved quickly. However, I'd like to know how we got here.

Actually it is not intended to be speedily forced on anyone. This issue was first tabled one or two years ago, at the AGM I believe. There are at least 3 reasons why it is happening; the current logo is too complex and expensive to get printed & embroidered(5 colours). The new one only has 2-3.
    2. We have a club version of the 50 years of kicks video produced by Dallas Shannon, that needs our logo & we intended to get the logo updated before that happens, as we only have one shot at it. 3. Our website is being updated to the Xenforo architecture & we hope to have that up and running this winter & wanted this ready for then.
I had planned on doing this project this past spring, but got sidelined with other things.

I'm sure club members could debate this all winter,.........probably all spring summer and fall as well  However, the execs only have so much time to dedicate to a given task, so here we are.

Sorry I wasn't able to do more work on my logo concepts. I didn't want to formally enter them as I don't have design software on my computer or know how to use it well. I did find this image online somewhere that looks like a trillium. Not sure who owns the design but something similar could be re-produced in case you decide to go with something besides the leaf.

and, what Brian didn't mention above...250 of OUR members did vote and made a decision. So, your peers selected this for you, it was not fast tracked(nothing is with clubs by the way) and we all know that pushback will come no matter what. For the record, my favorite selection wasn't picked...but wtf do I know about logos????....majority rules!

I voted and offered my ideas on the logo. Others chose differently - fair enough.

I wasn't serious about a name change, it was just sarcasm to highlight the fact that the winning logo design has no references to the ODSC as having any connection to the province of Ontario. Am I not supposed to voice my opinion? Is everything so serious for you guys that humour has left the building?

Not really sure why I'm an ODSC member anymore ...

Sometimes(most times) intonation is absent with E-communication. That's one major reason emails and posts etc can be taken the wrong way.

I also dont really adore the hokey type logo.... but dont think its all that important- honestly the best logos are minimalist and that advertise the website in my eyes.

but some food for thought is if this is an ONTARIO DUAL SPORT CLUB, whye tha maple leaf?
    why not _
