Is there anybody riding in that neck of the woods? Either dual sport, enduro, trail riding, I guess anything really... I'll be moving there this summer.

Look for Kayak Shack on this forum. He is from Pembroke.

My wife is from Chalk River. I don't think there is a really hight DS population there but places to ride seem pretty good. Google Graveltravel. They have a 800 km route maped out just past the Swisha. There are also miles of logging roads around but space is limited since you have the river on one side and the Park and CFB on the other. I heard there are some good places to ride around Barry's Bay, Wilno, Hardwood Lake, etc.

I use to live in Deep River, just west of Petawawa and still have cousins in Pet and Pembroke but I am not aware of any trails in the immediate area. Have the cabin just outside of Eganville on Lake Clear which is about a half hour south of Pet and there are some nice trails there. I understand there's a trail there that will take you down to Calabogie but havent looked into it yet. Alternatively, my cousin in Pet use to trailer his 4wheeler across the bridge at Pembroke into Quebec where he went riding with buddies. I'm sure once you get there whether your working on base or in town you'll hook up with someone that knows the lay of the land.

I just spent three dates in Mattawa riding the VMUT trails system, had an absolute blast

I would suggest contacting the Bytown Motorcycle Association. They have a dual sport arm of the club that sends out e-mails when rides are to occur. Typically they ride around the Calabogie area or in Limerick forest. You could consider signing up for the Calabogie Boogie in Sept. I'm in the west end of Ottawa.
