    Moderator's Note:
The following thread has been moved from a private member's area of the forum where a lively discussion regarding the future of the OFTR has been going on. It contains lots of information which we urge all OFTR members to sort through and make an informed decision on how they see their organization moving forward. Please keep any comments or discussions respectful and within the posting rules. If heavy moderation is required this thread will be locked and left for information purposes only.

I just received an appeal, of sorts, from Ken Hoeverman as an OFTR issuance under his OFTR email address. Perhaps others received the same communication?

Is there any additional information out there from ODSC members that sheds light on what's going on? I would like to point out that if this is a matter of individual performance by an employee at the OFTR, we should not really be involved.

IMO it is not wise on anybody's part to be taking employee/employer relations issues public...especially when it appears the principals involved have "lawyered up." :?

Likewise, the ODSC forum is not intended to be a means to publicize, mediate or lobby (for either side) in such disputes. In particular the ODSC club and forum need to steer clear of allowing anything to be posted here which is, or could be claimed to be libelous and implicate the ODSC in legal action(s).

As such I think you can expect some heavy moderating on this topic, should any further particulars on the issue be posted.

I respectfully ask that that everyone calmly refrain from reacting to this until the OFTR board has had a chance to properly respond.

    Thanks,

    Acknowledged and agreed to.

In the meantime, I have been able to read the OFTR minutes, and I believe I understand the situation a little better.

    Thanks for chiming in, all.

Thanks for the response Brian , i realize you are juggling two hats here. IMHO it would be good to hear from both sides , however this is something where no one will be a winner.

open discussion on the SCORRA forum. http://www.scorra.ca/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3993

    Good evening all,
I am very pleased to chime in and read such a respectful post.
This is obviously a very trying situation for all involved.
The OFTR has done much to advance our sport in the last decade, and I expect it will continue do so.

Nope. Your's and my email is from the OFTR. Not everyone gets the email messages.

It is important to all members to get involved and come to some type of settlement so we can get on with the important issues involving things like land issues and rights of riders. Fighting among ourselves will not solve any of our problems as riders.

Here is a copy of what I just received.
Impartially speaking, you may want to get involved and vote. This is a very big deal !!!

Randy, this isn't fighting amongst ourselves, this is an employee/employer issue that one party chose to take public. I urge everyone to read and re-read the Board minutes, Presidents report and the financials. Don't be surprised if it seems confusing but it should be enlightening. These issues have been ongoing for years and this Board finally has taken the action necessary to ensure accountability to the members.

If you are going to participate - get the facts.

Dizzy, I can't thank you enough for stating things as clearly and as simply as you did. People need to get the facts, you have obviously taken the time to educate yourself with what's going on, I sincerely hope other OFTR members will take the time to do the same. Please read the email being released this evening, it should be enlightening in many areas, and provide some very good insights into the current situation. I expect someone will post it to this thread or into a new thread once it's released.

    Regards,

    Dave

Dizzy hit the nail on the head. This is not in-fighting. This is an employee who doesnt want to listen to his boss. Ken answers to the Board of Directors and the Board answers to the membership, not the other way around. The board is trying its best to get things under control and get the OFTR to be self sustainable.

This whole deal stinks. How does someone send in a proxy for a "ney" vote? It is very obvious that whoever sent out the last email blasts is in favour of removing the board and is not impartial. I think Ken has done some good work but I am not in favour of removing the board and will be voting NO. The membership really needs to know the facts, not just hearsay.

I strongly urge people to educate themselves on the issues before they vote.

OFTR Board response to the email Ken sent out on Monday:
Please read carefully and thoroughly. It's important to note that the board has access to ALL of the facts and can fully support our position 1000% with documents, timelines, taped meetings, emails etc. etc. etc.
This is an issue that should have never been dragged into the public realm this way.

Where to get the facts? oftr site is sort of down now.
It looks bigger than just an employee/employer issue to me. At least one board member, accourding to today's oftr email, the Treasurer, does not support the recent actions(against the president) of the board.

Binsel. First the response letter above your post certainly clarifies many allegations. Meeting minutes may also be available I presume. It also sounds as though we will have a more formal process presented tomorrow. Also, as scott requested, we willneed to know where to send proxies for nays.
