I will be moving some forums around in the next few days. This is in preparation for migrating to new software. We are changing from phpbb to Xenforo. The background work will happen over the next 2 months, so don't expect to see anything major happen for a while. The plan is to make it easier to add extra features. We will use the time to experiment with a test installation so as to determine which features will meet our needs.

That's a good platform but have the lawsuits been settled with them yet from IBC?

I see that Internet brands Withdrew their infringement claim in may 2011. I am not aware of other claims.

It's a non issue, as the claim(yet to be proven in court) is against an individual, not the software or xenforo. Given that the claimant has amended their claim several times, it seems they're likely grasping at air.....

I've changed some of the permission settings for Limited Users and done more cleanup work. The only significant restriction for Limited Users is that they can't start topics in Casual Rides. Casual Ride invites come only from club members.

Note that Limited Users can start topics in all the other Local Riding forums. This allows members of other clubs to list their events on the ODSC.

I have been working with the XenForo software as my time permits. I have done a lot of template editing and style experimentation. It's a lot to learn and I won't do the forum changeover until I'm ready.

I'm sure a few people have wondered about the status of the intended forum software change. XenForo just finished with the lawsuit that was filed against them. Details of the agreement are confidential, but basically the lawsuit has been terminated with both parties paying their own legal costs. Quite a few third party developers bailed on XenForo while the lawsuit dragged on. XenForo has come back to life.

I've been working away at their forum software. It's a long road to travel and the end is still some ways away. I have made tons of template changes and have most of the layout finished. I consider it a draw between phpbb and XF as to features. Phpbb is a better "stock" package and does what we need. XenForo is easier to customize but lacks several important features. Some are available as extra cost addons and some are free. I've only installed a few addons since my focus is to modify the default package before adding more complexity. I have thought about dropping the forum software change many times, but I can't step away from a challenge. I just wanted to let everyone know that things are progressing (although slowly).

The database conversion (from phobb) is a one time affair so I've got to be confident before I try it. A test forum is also needed, but I haven't figured out the best method although I'm leaning toward placing it in a sub-domain (server related issues). Lots more to learn ........
