Does anyone know where I can get gpx tracks of the CDR from Canada/US border down to Mexico?

I've got one from "Big Dog" on the net, but looking for a couple more to compare.

    Thanks

I have Cannonshot's GPS track buried somewhere but, checkout Advrider.com and do a advanced search and you may come up with additional tracks. I'm having computer issues with a hard drive that holds all my GPS info, once that is sorted out I will be able to send you the tracks if you still need them. I also have the book on it.

If you are planning on riding the CDR, I would certainly be interest if you're putting a group together.

I've got several CDR downloads as I had planned to do it last summer but the trip didn't happen. I also have a transparent overlay routable CDR map that is suitable for most Garmin GPS. The "original" CDR trail seems to be a cycle/hike trail and many of the CDR tracklogs are for nearby roads. I have heard that some motorcycles go on the cycle trail but I haven't checked into this at all.

Like John, I'd like to join a group of similarily-minded riders who'd like to do all or part of the CDR.

For someone living in the east, you really have to ride the entire thing from your home base, so that would mean I'd want Forest roads, unpaved & paved roads ONLY. No rough stuff or single-track when you have to ride 000's Km back home :D

    I'll share my tracklogs.

Those Benchmark books are great - my Arizona one is almost in shreds now! I've also got some of the DeLorme Mapbooks which are almost identical - I have them for CO, PA, and TN.

Do you have the Benchmark books (the big 12"x16" ones) for each State the CDR goes through or one that covers just the CDR?

I searched ADVrider a while back and came across Jay Kannaiyan. He has his own website at http://www.jamminglobal.com/ (this guy has been around!) where I uploaded the CDR track. He actually got it from "Big Dog"s website and modified it (couldn't upload Jay's tracks as it comes up as garble, not as gpx), so at this point I'm studying "Big Dog's" track over, but would like to see what others have ridden on this route.

I would appreciate any tracks anyone has just to view the routes side by side sort of speaking.

Right now the CDR is on my bucket list (high up there!) and just want to research the tracks, terrain and experiences from others who have done this ride.

    Thanks

Are there map books which just cover the CDR?

I found this interesting site that has lots of info on the CDR Adventure Cycling Trail. It's 2500.0 miles long and all off-road :D .

They offer a set of maps and a book specifically about the CDR Trail for $98.

There seems to be a huge amount of info available for free by just Googling "CDR Adventure Trail".

I"ve checked out the website and it looks very interesting with lots of info, but are dualsports permitted on the same routes (although I can see from the pictures the cyclists are using gravel roads, etc.)?

Even if not, the book seems to be loaded with lots info and maps on the CDR. May have to bypass some of the cycle sections. :)

I can't seem to get a PM to go. That's three tries. I'll have to investigate separately.

Can we chat on Monday? I'm at: twotwo6 nine4nine six1four0

I'm currently reviewing a ride report from "Cannonshot" on AVDrider at http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=603076.

What a great report with lots of pictures, maps and he also has 2 different tracks available for upload! Very detailed information about the various sites and towns, etc. :eat
