Did they REALLY schedule it on Easter weekend???
Here is the reason why we (LVDR) had to do this.
The weekend we would normally run the BB on is also the first weekend of Turkey hunting in Norfolk County and no groups are allowed to use the County Forests during the hunting season.
We would have to push the event back 2 weeks until turkey season is over and and that point the farmers are in the fields and we probably wouldn't get permission from most of the local farmers to use their property.
If we ran the event the weekend before Easter I can almost guarantee that there will still be snow/ice in the woods.
We are going to run everything (enduro and trail ride) on the Sat of Easter weekend. This will allow guys to get home Sat night and still spend Easter Sunday with their families and gives them some extra time to get their bikes and gear cleaned up. Most businesses close the Sat of Easter weekend around here so it will be a long weekend for the majority of people anyhow.
Sorry if this is a problem for some riders, but this is our ONLY option if we want to run the event in 2014.
For those of you who haven't tried this ride, you are really missing something great. The sandy loam in these parts is the best sandy loam that I have ever experienced, and the woods berms are incredible.
Yep & the trail conditions for this event in 2013 were excellent!
This is good news for me! Never could make it before.
Is a blue plate required for the ride/route for this year? It's been several years since I've done this ride but I'm hoping that I can make it this year.
Thanks. Do you guys have an idea what the rough mileage expected for road vs trail is going to be?
